Ninth Inning Rally Propels Saints Past Tars

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. (April 18, 2018) – Rollins led almost the entire game, but a late ninth inning rally helped the Saints grind out a come from behind win over the Tars, 3-2.

Rollins drops to 16-21 overall and 4-14 in the conference while Flagler improves to 29-15, 15-9 in the Peach belt conference.

Nick Santucci had himself a multi-hit game for the Tars, going 2-3 with a walk, and a run scored. Brendan Brundage and Billy Lamm knocked in the two runs for the Blue and Gold, while Isaiah Russell recorded a triple.

Garrett Leonard got the start. The sophomore tossed five innings, allowing six hits and no runs, to go along with three strikeouts. Appearances on the mound were also made by Brian Auerbach, Whit Drennan, and Caleb Jakes, who was tabbed with the loss.

Ethan Crout had himself a career day, going 3-5 at the plate, including driving in all three of the Saints baserunners. As a team, Flagler totaled 10 hits, with four Saints notching at least two.

Jett Walsh snatched his seventh win of the year, and was credited with the complete game. Walsh pitched all nine innings, scattering six hits, while allowing two runs, along with seven punch outs.
