WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 2, 2018) – Rollins bats fell silent in the late innings, as the Tars dropped the game one of a three game series to No. 17 Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tars fall to 11-9 on the year, and 4-3 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Sailfish have now won eight in a row, and stand at 11-2 overall and 4-0 in SSC action.
Both teams had opportunities for big innings early, but neither team could take advantage and put up a crooked number. The Sailfish eventually put up two in the third, and Rollins could not respond. The Tars stranded two in the bottom of the frame, but then could not manufacture a base runner in their final four at bats.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Talia Kentoffio would equalize in the second. The freshman shortstop reached on a one single, and eventually came around to score on throwing error that come off the bat of Brianna Ernst.
- The Sailfish would score to advantageous runs in the third to take the lead for good. An error fielding a bunt and a wild pitch allowed two runners to cross home plate, making the score 3-1.
- The Tars would get two runners on base in the bottom of the third, but could not push anyone home, and that was as close as Rollins would get for the rest of the night.
- A Magnolia West RBI single gave Palm Beach Atlantic an insurance run in the fourth, before both pitchers settled down.
- Neither team tallied a hit in final three innings as the Sailfish iced the game away.
