Tars Ease by Vulcans to Start Las Vegas Swing

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 11, 2018) – The Tars picked up their seventh win of the year in the first match of their Spring Break trip in Las Vegas.  The Tars downed Hawaii Hilo 7-2, improving to 7-4 on the year.  The Vulcans fall to 2-3 overall. 

The tars jumped out to an early lead, sweeping doubles play.  Teresa Kaiser and Katie Dyson picked up the first point of the match with an 8-2 win on the second court.  Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg moved to 5-4 in the top doubles position in 2018, with an 8-3 win.  Savann Fuller and Marie Debruyn finished the sweep with an 8-6 win in the final team match. 

Debruyn captured the first Rollins single win, making the score 4-0, with a 6-0, 6-0 dominating victory in the sixth position.  Vitanza cruised by the No. 8 singles player in the West Region, Daniela Sanz, 6-3, 6-0, to clinch the Tars victory, on the first court.  Dyson continued her stellar singles play, sailing to a 6-0, 6-1 win in the third spot.  Carlye Goldman finished the match by tallying the Tars' seventh point.  The junior won a second set tiebreak for a 6-4, 7-6(4) win. 

Rollins continues their string of neutral site games in Las Vegas with a duel against No. 12 Midwestern State tomorrow, Monday, March 12.  First serve is set for 5 p.m.
