Rollins Holds On to Beat PBA

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 10, 2018) – Rollins snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday, beating Palm Beach Atlantic 57-52 inside Warden Arena.

Julia Ingler led the way for the Tars (12-11, 7-10 Sunshine State Conference) with 16 points and nine rebounds, tying a career high on the glass. Vernisha Andrews tallied a career-best 15 rebounds to go along with eight points, three assists and a steal. Jo Bistrow added eight points off the bench.

Hannah Grimm paced PBA (4-18, 3-13 SSC) with 19 points and five rebounds. Nkiru Anyagaligbo tallied 16 points and eight rebounds.

Rollins out-shot PBA 35 percent (19-54) to 32 percent (18-57) and beat the 'Fish on the glass 42-22. Neither team took very good care of the ball with the Tars committing 22 turnovers to PBA's 17.

The Tars jumped out to a 5-3 lead early, but PBA took control with a 12-3 run and led 15-8 with two minutes left in the first. Rollins would fall into a 15-12 hole after the first 10 minutes.

Rollins dominated the second quarter and jumped out to a 28-18 lead on a Summer Conti three-pointer at the 3:02 mark. PBA cut the lead to six before Bistrow scored the last four points of the half and sent Rollins to the locker room ahead 32-22.

The Tars defense held the Sailfish to just 1-of-10 shooting in the third and extended their advantage to 50-32 heading into the fourth. Ingler netted nine in the frame to lead the Tars.

Rollins was held scoreless the first six minutes of the fourth quarter with a Carly McLendon bucket putting the Tars back on top 52-42 with 3:39 to play. PBA closed the gap all the way to 54-52 with 21 seconds to play, but clutch free throws by Ingler and defensive stops down the stretch preserved the Rollins win.

The Tars are on the road Wednesday, February 14 visiting Nova Southeastern for a 5:30 p.m. match-up. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network and SSC Digital Network at RollinsSports.com.
