Rollins Stifled by Embry-Riddle on the Road

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 31, 2018) – Rollins hung with Embry-Riddle in the first half, but its offense sputtered down the stretch as the Tars lost to the Eagles 71-46 on Wednesday.

Julia Ingler poured in 17 points to lead Rollins (11-9, 6-8 Sunshine State Conference). Denise Daniels scored eight off the bench while Carly McLendon added seven.

Tara Fields recorded 22 points and eight rebounds to pace Embry-Riddle (16-4, 10-3 SSC). Both Morgan Ackermann and Nicole Tucker scored 12.

Rollins shot 29 percent (18-63) in the game, but were just 3-of-13 in the fourth quarter. ERAU shot an even 50 percent (22-44) and outrebounded the Tars 37-29 on the night.

Ingler got scoring started with a deep 3-pointer in the first, but it would be six minutes until the next Tars score, a Jo Bistrow triple with 2:51 on the clock. Rollins trialed 10-6 after the first.

Ingler pulled the Tars to within one with her second 3-pointer on the first possession of the second. ERAU then quickly went up by seven before the Tars mounted another comeback and used a Bistrow 3-pointer to close the gap to 20-19 with 2:23 left in the half.

Rollins took a 23-19 deficit into the break.

The Tars kept it close in the third with an Ingler score at the 6:28 mark pulling the Tars to within 28-25. Rollins trailed 40-35 with 1:31 left in the third before the Eagles rolled off an 8-0 run to lead 48-35 heading into the fourth.

Daniels scored four quick points for the Tars early in the quarter, but the Eagles caught fire and pulled away, leading 56-40 with five minutes to play and going up by as many as 27 late in the game.

Rollins will look to rebound on Saturday, February 3 visiting Tampa for a 2 p.m. contest. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network and SSC Digitial Network at RollinsSports.com.
