WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 31, 2017) - Rollins
snapped a four game losing streak, shutting out Sunshine State
Conference provisional member Embry-Riddle, 2-0, in the opener of
their three game series. With the win the Tars improve to 23-16 on
the year, while the Eagles fall below the .500 mark, at 18-19 on
the year.
Rollins sent three pitchers to the circle to hold Embry-Riddle
scoreless. Sarah
Piening got the start, Amanda
Guglietta came in for relief, and earned the victory, and Grace
Street slammed the door on the Eagles, earning the save. Both
Rollins' runs came in the first when leadoff batter Hailee
Keisling and cleanup batter Brianne
Lint both sailed the ball over the right field fence.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The Tars jumped out to an early lead
courtesy of the long ball. Hailee
Keisling led off the Rollins half of the inning by sending the
ball over the right field wall. Brianne
Lint doubled the Tars' advantage with a homerun to right
center.
· Sarah
Piening escaped the second inning, getting defensive help from
Rachel
Minier, the second baseman fielded a groundball and delivered a
strike to Abigail
Sexton at the plate, throwing out pinch runner Natalie Morales
trying to score.
· Amanda
Guglietta retired the first seven batters she faced in the
circle. The freshman retired two Eagles in the top of the fifth
before she was replaced by Grace
Street. Street struck out Maggie Scott to keep Embry-Riddle
scoreless in the frame.
· Street stayed in to pitch the seventh, earning the
save by striking out Destiny Carroll for the final
out.

Reed moved into sole possession of eighth place on the Tars'
all-time hit list with 181, and moved into a tie for eighth with 34
career doubles.

Lint moves into a three-way tie for first in the SSC with six
homeruns.
· Rollins now has 24 homeruns as a team, seven more
than the next highest team in the conference.
· The win for Amanda
Guglietta was her first collegiate victory, in her second
appearance in the circle.

Street's save was her first as a Tar, in her fifth relief
appearance on the season.
· Rollins has shutout five opponents on the year.
· Michelle
Frew is now 765-317-1 in her 22nd season at the helm
of the Rollins softball program.
