ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 19, 2017) - Rollins
and Eckerd split their Sunday double-header, giving the Tritons the
2-1 series victory. The Tars dominated game one 13-2, but fell in
game two 5-2. Rollins moves to 22-13 on the year and 5-4 in
Sunshine State Conference action. Eckerd now sits at 13-19
overall, and 2-7 in SSC play.
The Tars put up runs in the final four innings of game one,
including putting up five in fifth and four in the seventh.
Rollins struggled to get the bats going again in game two, only
managing two runs on six hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One
· After three scoreless frames, the Tars got
on the board first in the fourth. Pitcher Grace
Street helped her own cause, blasting a homerun to right
field.
· The long ball accounted for five more Rollins runs in
the fifth inning. Brianne
Lint lifted a three run shot, scoring Sarah
Harrison and Rachel
Minier. Two batters later Kacie
Booth sent the ball over the fence, driving in Street.
· Eckerd sent their first runner across the plate in
the bottom of the fifth, but Rollins would pull away again with a
trio of scores in the top of the sixth. Hali
Marshall came home on a wild pitch. Lint then tallied her
fourth RBI, driving in Hailee
Keisling with an RBI single. Booth walked with the bases
loaded to send the final run of the frame across the plate.
· Eckerd scored once in the bottom of the sixth, making
the score 9-2 and extending the contest for another inning.
· Rollins put the game out of reach in the top of the
seventh, scoring four times. Chelsea
Reed came up with three runners on and hit a bases clearing
double, she then scored on a Lint groundout.
· Street retired the Tritons in order in the bottom of
the seventh, closing out the Rollins victory.
Game Two
· The Tritons took the lead in the third
inning, manufacturing a pair of runs, scoring on two sacrifice
hits.
· Rollins pulled a run back in the fourth, capitalizing
on a one out Grace
Street double. The sophomore came home after Sarah
Harrison reached on an Eckerd error.
· Chelsea Armstrong extended the Triton lead with a
three run homerun in the fifth, making the score 5-1.
· Rollins sent a one runner home in the sixth, Amanda
Guglietta doubling home Kacie
Booth, but 5-2 was as close as Rollins could come, stranding
two runners in the top of the seventh.

· Chelsea
Reed moved one run away from seventh on the Rollins all-time
list, sitting with 117 currently; the centerfielder is one hit away
from a tie for eighth all-time, with 178 to his point in her
career.
· Rachel
Minier retained her team lead, slapping her eighth double of
the campaign.
· The Tars remain first in the SSC in both double plays
and homeruns, tallying 20 of each in 2017.
· Brianne
Lint's game one homerun was her fifth of the year, tying her
for the conference lead.
· With five game one RBI, Lint climbed the conference
rankings, and now sits second behind her teammate Reed, who leads
with 31 after three in today's action.
· Michelle
Frew is now 764-314-1 in her 22nd season at the helm
of the Rollins softball program.

The Tars continue SSC action with a three game series
against Florida Tech next weekend. Game one is scheduled for
Friday, March 24, first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
