WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2017) - Rollins
split their double-header with the Kutztown Golden Bears, each team
taking one low scoring contest. Rollins moves to 20-10 on the year
while Kutztown, who received votes in the latest NFCA National
Poll, move to 10-6.
The Tars walked-off in game one, marking the third time this
season the Tars have won in their final at bat. Hailee
Keisling got to be the hero, slapping an RBI single up the
middle to give Rollins a 2-1 victory. Kutztown responded in game
two with timely hitting of their own, sending a run across in the
top of the seventh, and holding on the earn the
split.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One
· The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead,
manufacturing a run in the top of the second inning.
· Kutztown threatened to extend their lead in the
seventh, getting runners on second and third with two outs.
However, Sarah
Piening found an out, like she had all contest, getting Tamara
Jennings to groundout to third base.
· Held scoreless until the seventh the Tars found
themselves down to their last at bat. Rachel
Minier started the inning off with a bunt single. Kacie
Booth then laid down a bunt, which Kutztown catcher Gabby
Tareila fielded, but her throw went array, allowing Minier to score
and Booth to end up on third base. After two quick outs senior Hailee
Keisling came to the plate. The first baseman logged her
197th career hit with a walk-off single up the middle,
giving the Tars the 2-1 victory.
Game Two
· Again Kutztown got out to an early lead
Cheyenne Jones double to right center set up Gabby Tareila to hit
an RBI single down the right field line, giving the Golden Bears a
1-0 lead.
· The Tars answered back in the third, when freshman Amanda
Guglietta tallied her second career RBI on a two out single to
right field, scoring Rachel
Minier.
· The Tars took the lead in the fourth when Hailee
Keisling tallied hit number 199 with an RBI single down the
left field line, scoring fellow senior Chelsea
Reed.
· The Bears replied with an equalizer in the top of the
fifth on a two out single by first baseman Bridget Newman.
· Kutztown took the lead for good in the top of the
seventh, scoring on a two out single by Gia Santigate.
· The Tars left seven runners on base and struggled at
the plate with runners in scoring position, most notably leaving
the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

Reed moved into a tie for eighth in all-time runs scored, with
113, she passed assistant coach Brittany
Johnson to move into 10th on the all-time hit list
with 171, and she stole her 44th career base, moving her
into a tie for seventh most in Tars' history.
· Hailee
Keisling tallied three hits to move her to 199, one away from
being only the fifth Tar ever to reach 200; she also tallied one
double, tying her for sixth on the all-time list.
· With her game one win Sarah
Piening moves into a three-way tie for the most wins in the
Sunshine State Conference.
· Sarah
Harrison's 17 stolen bases place her third in the SSC in the
category.
· Piening, who leads the SSC with 51 walks, has calmed
down in recent games, allowing only two free passes in her last
four appearances.
· With 15 games complete on this 17 game home stand the
Tars have compiled a 13-2 record.
· Michelle
Frew is 762-311-1 in her 22nd season at the helm of
the Rollins softball program.
