WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 26, 2017) – Rollins trailed at intermission, but found its groove in the second half and beat Daytona State 80-71 Thursday in exhibition play.
The game was the first of three preseason tune-ups before the regular season begins early November.
Sophomore Denise Daniels led the Tars with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals on the day. Tianna Rosser added 13 points and 11 rebounds while Carly McLendon racked up nine points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Newcomers Rachel Jablonski (12 pts.) and Jaylyn Harrison (8 pts, 6 asst.) had solid debuts wearing the Blue and Gold.
In all, nine different players scored for the Tars.
Skyler Snider led Daytona State and all scorers with 17 points while Chrisanna Scott chipped in 15 points off the bench.
Rollins was sluggish coming out of the gate, trailing 13-12 after the first quarter and 40-34 at the game's midway point. A big 22-13 advantage in the third and 24-18 edge in the fourth gave the Tars the win.
The Tars are back in action on Friday, Nov. 3 hosting Rhodes at 5:30 p.m.
