WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 14, 2017) – Rollins controlled play from start to finish on Saturday afternoon, cruising passed South Region foe Flagler College by a score of 4-0. Rollins got one first half goal, then poured it on in the second period on their way to a 7-3-1 overall record. The Saints fall to 3-8-0 on the 2017 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half: Rollins dominated play, taking 10 shots in the half to the Saints three. However, it took until the 38th minute of play for Rollins to get the breakthrough. Stefan Avram gathered the ball with a defender on his back. The junior was able to turn and dribbled the ball across the top of the box before cracking a shot back across the goal and into the far netting. Drew Trautmann made two saves in the period to secure the Tars' halftime advantage.
Second Half: Johnny Nartowicz extended the Tars lead less than five minutes into the second half. Liam Luke was taken down in the box, and it was the junior captain who stepped up and converted the penalty. Nartowicz played a roll in the Tars' third goal as well. The Orlando native played a long set piece over the Flagler defense to streaking Dominic Adomakoh. Adomakoh brought down the ball but was quickly challenged, the ball popped out of the melee and over the Saints keeper into the net. Liam Luke iced the game away in the 83rd minute, taking a long Tristian Johnson ball in stride and burying it in the net. The Tars were rarely challenged as they saw out the remainder of the match; Trautmann ended the day with five saves.
NOTES:
- The Tars are now 20-9-3 all time against the Saints.
- This was the Tars third clean sheet of the year and second in a row. It was also Drew Trautmann's ninth career shutout, tying him for seventh in Rollins history.
