WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 3, 2016) - Rollins
controlled the action from start to finish, defeating Georgian
Court 4-0 to open the 2016 season. Rollins sits at 1-0 on the new
year, while the Lions fall to 1-0.
Rollins was led by sophomore Kathryn
O'Brien. The reigning SSC Rookie of the Year put three goals
past the Lion's keeper, recording the first hat-trick of her
Rollins career. Emma
Bloom tallied the other Rollins goal, leading the team with
seven shots. Tamara
Vuckovich, Mora
Johnson and Sarah
Buckley all registered one assist apiece. Kelly
Rowswell and Carly
Stevens split time in the net for the Tars, each making one
save.
Four Georgian Court players each recorded one shot, with Kaitlin
Lister and Carolyn Stanton each put theirs on target. Natalie
Axelsson did her best to keep the Lions in the game, tallying 11
saves in cage.
NOTES:
· Rollins outshot Georgian Court 32-4, and put
15 shots on target against the Lion's two.
· Johnson's assist was her 24th as a Tar,
she is now just three assists away from moving past Brenna McKee
and Ashley Waplinger into third in Rollins History.
· For Vuckavich and Buckley tonight's assists were
the first points of their Rollins careers.
