KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 20,
2016) - Despite dropping their first game of the season
last week, to then No. 20 Embry Riddle, the Tars continued to climb
in the NSCAA National Poll. Rollins moved up two spots to settle
at No. 6, it was announced Tuesday.
The Tars opened the year with four straight wins, before the
loss against the Eagles, to currently stand at 4-1-0 in the 2016
campaign. The Rollins attack has been led by Kathryn
O'Brien. The sophomore has won two Sunshine State Conference
Player of the Week Awards, and currently sits in a tie for fifth
nationally with eight goals.
Grand Valley State University jumps up to claim the number one
spot this week, knocking Columbus State University to number nine
in this week's polls. The University of Central Missouri moves into
the number two spot while the Colorado School of Mines jumps up to
snag the number three spot. East Stroudsburg University continues
to sit in the number four spot while Adelphi University rounds out
this week's top five.
Rollins grabbed the highest ranking among SSC schools.
Embry-Riddle climbed five spots, coming in at No. 15 in the latest
poll. Nova Southeastern rounds out the conference's presence in
the top 25, securing a spot at No. 21. Florida Tech and Saint Leo
each received votes.
The Tars will look to return to their winning ways as they
officially open conference competition this week. Rollins travels
to Tampa on Wednesday, September 21, at 7 p.m. Florida Tech will
then visit Barker Family Stadium on Saturday, September 24, with
kick off scheduled for 7 p.m.
