LAST MEETING: Rollins and West Florida met in
the first round of the NCAA South Region 2 Tournament on Thursday.
Fogle threw a no-hitter for the Tars as they went on to dominate
the Argos, 7-0.
The Tars got on the board first after Chelsea
Reed hit a single to right field with Hailee
Keisling and Tiffany
Osmanski on base. The Argos right fielder had trouble fielding
the ball allowing Keisling to score from second to give the Tars a
1-0 lead. Rollins then had the bases loaded later in the inning,
but West Florida's Kalyn Chapman was able to get out of the
jam.
Courtney
Durbin started things off in the fourth as she singled to left
field. Fogle then helped her cause in the circle as she blasted a
two-run home run off the left center scoreboard with two outs to
put the Tars up 3-0.
Rollins would not be done there as the Tars put up four more
runs in the top of the fifth. Senior Brittany
Johnson singled to third, but a throwing error by the third
basement allowed Abigail
Sexton to score. Next batter, Durbin, doubled to left field
scoring Reed and Johnson extending Rollins lead to 6-0. The senior
left fielder scored later in the inning off a throwing error by the
West Florida catcher to go up 7-0.
