Rollins opened their home schedule on Sunday, hosting No. 21
Valdosta State. The Tars nearly dug themselves out of an early hole
but eventually fell to the Blazers, 5-4.
Rollins falls to 0-2 on the young season while VSU improves to
3-2.
The Blazers leapt out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles
portion of the match. Shannon

Davis as well as the team of Johanna
Olsson and Teresa
Kaiser both fell 9-7 in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches,
respectively.
In singles, the Tars took four of six matches, including Etten
knocking off No. 22 ranked Bea Hernandez in straight sets, 6-2,
6-4, in the No. 1 spot.
Kaiser picked up a win in the No. 3 match to improve to 1-1 on
the season in singles while Savanna
Fuller defeated Valdosta's Anke Poncelet, 6-4, 2-6, 10-7, in
the No. 5 spot.
Fabiana
Vitanza defeated Joanna Lario in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, also
improved to 1-1.
The Tars will be back in action in a scrimmage with Hillsborough
Community College next Sunday before hosting Mary on Tuesday, March
1 at 2 p.m.
