Tars Eye Conference Lead Ahead of Clash with Mocs

SETUP: The No. 17 Tars defeated Saint Leo at home, 3-1, before drawing Eckerd 1-1 on a trip to St. Petersburg, last week. Rollins sits at 7-1-1 on the year, and 3-0-1 in Sunshine State Conference action. Rollins hosts rival Florida Southern on Wednesday, looking to take over the top spot in the SSC rankings. Saturday's trip to Miami Shores, Fla. to take on Barry has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.

WHO TO WATCH:

Rollins: Kathryn O'Brien continues to pace the Tars attack, tallying eight goals, second most in the SSC, and 19 points, 15 highest total in Division II. Paxton Sickler has moved up the Rollins record books this year with her four goals and 11 total points placing among the Rollins elite. Emma Bloom has recorded four goals of her own, along with two assists for a total of 10 points. Freshman Kelly Rowswell has seen the majority of time in net for the Tars, registering 33 saves and a .846 save percentage, second best in the conference.

Florida Southern: Last time out the Mocs fell to the Barry Bucs 2-1, falling to 1-4-1 and 1-3-0 in SSC play. Anna Griessler leads the Florida Southern attack, tallying three goals on the year, for a team high six points. A trio of Mocs have recorded a single assist on the year. Florida Southern has not put the ball in the back of the net more than once in any game this season. In net junior Helena Norrstrom has seen the most of the action, making 39 saves and holding a .830 save percentage.

NOTES: Last season the Tars defeated Florida Southern 2-0 in Lakeland, Bloom scored both the Rollins' goals. Overall Rollins holds a commanding 26-2-0 lead over the Mocs in the all-time series.

NEXT: With Saturday's contest postponed, the Tars next challenge will be hosting Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, October 12, at 7 p.m. Rollins will then take the pitch at Barker Family Stadium on Saturday, October 15, to take on the Sharks of Nova Southeastern
