WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 30, 2016) - Rollins
picked up a win in their season finale, defeating the Embry-Riddle
Eagles 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Prior to the game the Tars honored
five seniors, David
Kuckkahn, Mark
Biddinger, Tosan
Popo, Jordan
Cole, and Alexis
Martinez. The win means Rollins concludes their season with a
record of 8-6-2, going 3-4-2 in the Sunshine State Conference. SSC
Provisional member, Embry-Riddle, falls to 2-9-3 on the year.
The Tars graduating class factored heavily in the first two
Rollins' tallies. Cole picked up an assist on the Tars first goal,
lofting a ball to the back post where Cyrus
Siminou was there to tap it in. Popo registered his eighth
goal of the season to make the score 2-0. The Essex, England
native headed a Matt
Volk cross into the bar, but gathered his own rebound and
slotted the ball past the keeper. Stefan
Avram made the score 3-0 in the second half, when a James
Crowley pass set him free on the keeper, and he finished in the
side netting. Drew
Trautmann played the full 90 minutes, making five saves to earn
the clean sheet victory.
The Eagles managed 11 shots in the contest, putting five on
target. James Pass led the way with three attempts. Richard
Dearle made three saves for Embry-Riddle.
Notes
· Popo's goal gave him 84 points in his Rollins career,
tying him for 10th all-time. He is tied with coach Keith
Buckley.
· Trautmann saved a penalty kick at the 7-minute mark
to help preserve the Tars' fifth shutout of the season.
· Crowley's 68th minute assist was juniors
first helper of the season.
