WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 22, 2015) - The No. 9
Rollins women's tennis team began their run into the Sunshine State
Conference with an 8-1 win at No. 45 Florida Southern Tuesday
afternoon.
Rollins (4-8, 1-0 SSC) regrouped two days after only having four
available players to win their first conference match of the year.
Sophomore Shannon
Etten and freshmen Fabiana
Vitanza and Zoe
Monge all returned to the lineup and picked up wins at number
one, number four and number six singles.
The Tars led 2-1 after doubles, picking up wins at two doubles
and three doubles. Playing two doubles for the first time this
season Shannon
Etten paired with Fabiana
Vitanza and won 8-2. At three doubles Emma
Wookey and Zoe
Monge won 8-6.
No. 27 nationally ranked Shannon
Etten defeated Magda Riutort in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Etten
is 6-3 this season and has won her last four singles matches.
At two singles, Carli
Davis picked up her first official win at singles this season,
defeating Olivia Spagnuolo in straight sets 6-3, 4-2 ret.
Sophomore Johanna
Olsson won her fifth singles match of the year with a straight
set 6-2, 6-3 win at three singles.
Fabiana
Vitanza is now 6-4 this season after winning in straight sets,
7-6 (2), 6-2 at four singles.
Sophomore Taylor
Brown won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 at five singles. Brown is
5-6 this year.
At six singles, freshman Zoe
Monge picked up her third career win at Rollins with a bagel
win 6-0, 6-0.
