No. 14 Rollins Beats Saint Leo for Sixth-Straight

SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 7, 2015) - Rollins allowed just 16 second half points and rolled to a 64-46 win over Saint Leo on the road Saturday. The 14th-ranked Tars improve to 18-2 overall and remain on top of the Sunshine State Conference standings at 9-1.

Sarah Taylor led Rollins with 16 points while Ashley Losch tallied a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Tanaya Jones chipped in nine points and five rebounds.

Mary Redmond netted 17 off the bench to pace Saint Leo (7-14, 2-9 SSC). Kinnara Lewis added 13 points and Melissa Jackson hauled in 10 rebounds.

The Tars shot 40 percent (26-65) from the field and limited the Lions to just 14-of-54 (26 percent). Rollins won on the glass 44-38 and forced 19 turnovers to just 11 committed.

Rollins never trailed in the game, leading 13-4 after five minutes and 22-15 midway through the first. Leo came back to tie the score 30-30 with 47 seconds left, but Taylor drained a jumper on the Tars last possession to put Rollins up 32-30 at intermission.

The Tars led 39-35 with 16:26 to play and went on a small 7-2 run, sparked by a Julia Ingler putback and finished with an Ingler layup. After a Lewis 3-pointer for the Lions at the 11:58 mark, Rollins outscored Leo 7-0 over the next 6:18 and ran out to a 53-40 lead with 5:40 left.

The Tars went on to lead by as much as 19 in the final minutes.
