Olsson and Fabiana
Vitanza remained undefeated in singles play this spring but the
No. 9 Rollins women's tennis team fell 5-4 to No. 15 Valdosta
Saturday afternoon.
The Tars fall to 1-2 and 1-1 in region play. Valdosta improves
to 4-2.
In singles, No. 27 nationally-ranked Shannon
Etten lost her first singles match this year in straight sets,
6-2, 6-0. Etten is 2-1 this year at number one singles.
Sophomore Johanna
Olsson won her third straight match this spring, winning 6-1,
6-3 against Johanna Lario. Olsson is 3-0 on the year.
At number five singles, Fabiana
Vitanza won her match Vitanza is 3-0 on the year and has not
dropped a set.
Junior co-captain Emma
Wookey won her match by default, giving the Tars a fourth team
point. Wookey has not lost in six straight singles matches she has
been scheduled to play.
At number three doubles, Katie
Wookey and Vitanza won their match by default. The tandem is
1-1 on the year.
The Tars face No. 7 West Florida Sunday at 10 a.m.
