WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 27, 2015) - Rollins found themselves in a battle midway through game one of their annual Thanksgiving Tournament but locked in defensively down the stretch to down UPR-Rio Piedras, 56-44.

With the win, the Tars improve to 3-2 on the year and advance to Saturday's Championship game against the winner of Clayton State versus Lubbock Christian.

A pair of freshman recorded career days on Friday, led by Tianna Rosser who poured in 16 points on 7-11 shooting. She also grabbed five boards to tie for the team high. Classmate Carly McLendon netted nine, a career best, with four rebounds while sophomore Jasmine Stone also finished with nine of her own, hitting 4-7 from the field. Tanaya Jones, Cassidy Bailey and Keevana Edwards dished out three assists each.

For the Gallitos, Thalia Toress scored 12 with Lirielys Ramos chipping in eight six points to go along with a game high eight rebounds.

The Tars outrebounded UPR, 41-32, and turned the ball over just 14 times compared to the Gallitos' 23. Rollins bench outscored the UPR bench, 31-14.

UPR came out firing in the first quarter, leading by as much as seven with under four minutes left in the period.

Rollins would close the quarter with an 8-0 run, four by Rosser, to take a 16-15 lead and went on to seize control in the second, taking a 33-27 lead into halftime.

The Tars lead would move to double digits early in the third before UPR cut it five at the 6:53 mark but that was as close as it would get the rest of the way as Rollins came back with a 6-0 run and never looked back.

The Rollins defense allowed just eight points in the fourth to secure the win.

The Championship game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. Fans can watch all the action live on the Geico TSN on RollinsSports.com
