WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 7, 2014) -
Fifth-year senior forward Brenna
McKee tallied her first career hat trick Sunday, leading
14th-ranked Rollins to a 5-0 win over Georgia College
& State University.
Rollins' (2-0) stout defense was the story, limiting the Bobcats
(0-2) to just one shot the entire afternoon. Mary
Spring was in goal, but due to the Tars domination of the
midfield, saw little action.
The Tars came out firing as connecting passes from Paxton
Sickler to McKenzie
Ryan set up McKee's first goal. Ryan found the Texas native
streaking down the right side where she gathered and beat the
keeper to the far post in the 17th minute.
McKee struck again in the 33rd minute off a pass from
Mackenzie
Miller to put Rollins ahead 2-0.
Mora
Johnson got in on the action 10 minutes into the second half,
taking a Sickler pass on the left side and striking it into the
back of the net.
McKee tallied the hat trick in the 70th minute as a
loose rebound wasn't cleared by the Bobcats and she slid a shot
just inside the post.
Miller put a cap on the Tars afternoon with an unassisted goal
in the 87th minute after another scramble in front of
the net.
The three goals are the most scored by a Tar since Azure
Dorsey's hat trick against Eckerd in 2012.
In two games this season, Rollins has outscored its opponents
12-1.
Rollins will next head to Pensacola to face second-ranked West
Florida on Friday, September 12 at 6 p.m. Fans can catch all the
action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
