WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 22, 2014) - The
Rollins College softball team bested conference-rival Barry 7-2
Saturday evening at MLK Park. Left fielder Courtney
Durbin broke open the contest in the second inning with a
bases-clearing triple.
The Tars improve their record to 22-8 (7-3 SSC), while Barry
drops to 18-9 (3-4 SSC).
Sophomore Jule
Kranz started the two-out rally in the second inning with a
single back through the middle. Hilary
Brown walked and Jessica
Gipson reached on a single to the shortstop to load the bases.
Hailee
Keisling got the scoring started by driving in Kranz on a
single. Durbin increased the Rollins lead to 4-0 by clearing the
bases with her third triple of the season.
Barry would go on to score two in the fourth but Rollins
answered with one in the fifth and two in the sixth to secure the
victory.
Niki
Fogle tossed seven innings, allowing two runs, both unearned,
on five hits. She walked three and struck out two in the
contest.
The Tars will continue the series tomorrow, Sunday, in
doubleheader action starting at 1 p.m.
