Rollins Post Shutout of Bluefield State

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 21, 2014) - Rollins extended its winning streak to 10 Friday as the ninth-ranked Tars shut down Bluefield State 9-0 in nonconference action.

Rollins (12-2) surrendered just five doubles points and gained an early advantage 3-0.

Elissa DeCampli and Ashley Rosenberg beat Tafadzwa Mawisire and Wendy Rudhu 8-0 in the No. 1 match. Taylor Brown and Shannon Etten took the Laura Hernandez-Larez and Estel Fernandez-Balada 8-1 at No. 2. The sweep came in the No. 3 match as Johanna Olsson and Mariana Salvador took Maria Hernandez-Larez and Isabella Cubillos 8-4.

The Tars won three of their singles matches by shutout. Elissa DeCampli at No.1, Shannon Etten at No. 3 and Brown in the fourth-match each won by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Rosenberg stopped Mawisire 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 match and Loft beat L. Hernandez-Larez 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5. In the six match, Katie Wookey beat Maria Hernendez-Larez 6-0, 6-2.

Rollins has a quick turnaround for its next match, meeting Sunshine State Conference foe Eckerd on Saturday, March 22.
