WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2014) -
The ninth-ranked Tars picked up their seventh win in a row on
Saturday, defeating No. 7 West Florida, 5-4.
Rollins is now 9-2 while the Argos falls to 9-4.
The Tars took a 2-1 lead after doubles, including an intense,
closely played match in the No. 3 spot where the Rollins pair of Carli
Davis and Mariana Salavador needed a tiebreaker to beat Nina
Bubelova and Fernanda Amaral, 9-8 (9-7).
In singles, Rollins did just enough, splitting the six matches,
taking the 1-3 matches. Elissa
DeCampli picked up her biggest win of the year in the No. 1
match, coming back from a set down to beat 20th ranked
Monika Kochanova 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Classmate Ashley
Rosenberg then defeated Laure-Eline Faure 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) for
her sixth singles win in a row while freshman Shannon
Etten beat Kat Dikosavljevic 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 match to
clinch the match.
The Tars will take a night off and turn right around to host New
York Institute of Technology at 11 a.m.
