WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 15, 2013) -
Rollins came into the second half with increased intensity and
tallied three scores as the 16th-ranked Tars handed
Incarnate Word its first loss of the year, 3-0 on Sunday.
Brenna
McKee notched her third score of the season, driving in the
game's first goal in the 57th minute. Emma
Jones and Mora
Johnson assisted on the play.
Rollins (3-1) posted a second score in the 77th
minute as Jones took a long Taylor
Thigpen pass and beat the keeper to the far post. The Tars put
it away in the 85th minute when Paxton
Sickler took advantage of a failed clearance and fired in her
team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Mary
Spring earned the win in goal, playing 84 minutes and grabbing
four saves. Shelby
Finch came on for the final six minutes for the Tars.
Heather Kowalik suffered the loss for IWU (5-1), grabbing nine
saves and allowing three goals. The Cardinals also had a pair of
team saves.
The Tars dominated the box score, out-shooting their visitors
24-9 and building a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Rollins will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 18 hosting
Florida Tech in a nonconference match-up. Game time is slated for 5
