WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 5, 2013) - In the
bottom of the 12th with one out, Yuta
Okazaki laid down a bunt to drive in Zach
Persky from third to win 3-2 over the Barry Buccaneers Friday
night at Alfond Stadium.
Persky led off the frame on an infield bunt single before taking
second on a stolen base. Brett
Flutie then drew the first out bringing Persky to the plate.
On a 2-2 count, Okazaki laid down a bunt in between the Bucs
pitcher and third baseman that would allow him to drive in Persky
for the win.
Okazaki finished the night 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored
while Persky went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and the game-winning
run. Brandon
Curson was also 3-for-5 with one run.
Junior Eric
Morse (3-1) picked up the win in three innings on the mound for
the Blue and Gold. He struck out three and did not allow a hit,
walk or run.
Rollins led through five innings of play but was taken back in
the top of the seventh as Barry plated a pair of runs to even the
score at two runs apiece.
In the top of the second, Brandon
Curson put the Tars on the board on a Steve
Betcherman grounder to first. Okazaki scored the Tars' second
run of the game on an Evan
Rivera fielder's choice.
After BU tied the score in the top of the seventh, Rollins
starter Anthony
Figliolia went two more innings of scoreless baseball. Morse
relieved Figliolia in the top of the 10th holding off
the Bucs for the win.
Morse's counterpart Adrian Benitez was charged with his first
loss of the season in 4.1 innings of work. He struck out five and
scattered three hits and gave up one run.
Third baseman Tyler Kellman had two hits for the Bucs.
Rollins will look to win their second conference series of the
season on Saturday, April 6 as they face Barry in a doubleheader
