LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 6, 2013) - Rollins
(23-2) climbed a single position in the NFCA Division II softball
poll to seventh despite dropping a game to Nova Southeastern as
part of a 4-1 weekly effort, it was announced on Wednesday.
A 3-1 week allowed defending national champion Valdosta State
(16-3) to remain at the top of the poll for the third straight week
to open 2013. The Blazers saw their overall lead trimmed, however,
receiving 10 of 16 possible first-place votes to lead second-ranked
Southeastern Oklahoma State (19-4) by only 10 points. Both the
Savage Storm and No. 3 West Texas A&M (14-1) reaped three
first-place nods in the latest ratings. Indianapolis (14-2)
improved its overall winning streak to seven games to rise a pair
of spots into fourth, while Cal State Dominguez Hills held steady
at No. 5.
Joining the rankings this week from among those previously
"receiving votes" are Notre Dame de Namur (10-3) at No. 18,
Midwestern State (16-4) at No. 22 and Winona State (8-0) at No.
24.
SSC rival Tampa (13-3) slid again this week, dropping four spots
to 11th.
The Tars will take their No. 7 ranking to West Palm Beach on
Wednesday for a doubleheader with Palm Beach Atlantic. Game one is
set for a 4 p.m. start. Rollins softball fans can follow along live
