WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 1, 2013) -

Rollins manufactured two runs in the bottom of the ninth to complete a thrilling comeback and beat Assumption 6-5 on a chilly Friday night in Winter Park.

Rollins (5-6) surrendered its lead in the eighth and were trailing by one heading into the last of the ninth. Zach Persky led off the inning with a single and moved to second after Brandon Curson was plunked. Both then advanced a base on a Boston Langley foul out. Matt Hendricks drew a walk to load the bases and set up a wild finish.

Brett Flutie laid down a perfect drag bunt to third base to score Persky and tie the score. During the play, the Greyhound's third baseman fell on the attempt to throw out Flutie at first and Curson scored the game winner as the ball rolled loose on the infield grass.

Persky and Hunter Mayfield led Rollins' offense, each going 2-4 with a RBI. Evan Rivera added a RBI double while Langley, Brian Lattanzi, Langley and Steve Betcherman each tallied base knocks.

Jack Murray (1-2) picked up the win in relief, throwing one and two thirds of scoreless baseball. Brett Mueller was solid in the start, tossing seven and a third, scattering nine hits and surrendering five runs, four earned, with four strikeouts.

Greg O'Donnell highlighted Assumption (0-1), hitting 3-4 while Travis Smith went 2-4. Cody Rocha took the loss in relief, allowing two hits and two runs in a third of an inning.

The Tars took control with a run in the second and made it a 2-0 score with another in the fourth. Assumption tied it up in the sixth and manufactured the go-ahead in the seventh.

Rivera and Persky had RBIs in the seventh to put Rollins back on top 4-3. The lead quickly disappeared in the top of the eighth as the Greyhounds took advantage of three walks and a single to plate two and lead 5-4. Rollins left a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the eighth and put Assumption down in order in the top of the next, setting up the exciting ninth.

Three games will be held at Alfond Stadium and Harper-Shepherd field on Saturday, March 2. Assumption will take on St. Anselm at 11 a.m., Stonehill and Felician meet at 2:30 p.m. and Rollins faces Felician at 6 p.m.
