BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 15, 2013) - Rollins found themselves in an early hole, ultimately suffering a 38-4 loss to the Lynn Fighting Knights in the Tars' Sunshine State Conference opener at the Lynn Baseball Field.

Southpaw Brett Mueller managed to keep the Fighting Knights (15-7, 1-0) scoreless in the opening frame, allowing just one hit. In the bottom of the second, the floodgates opened for LU as they scored seven runs, four on a Jason Matusik grand slam, which gave Lynn a 7-3 lead. Mueller was charged with his first loss of the season, allowing nine runs on eight hits.

The Tars (13-8, 0-1) quickly jumped on the board in the first frame as they scored a pair of runs. Hunter Mayfield scored the first run on a Brian Lattanzi sacrifice fly. Evan Rivera gave the Tars a 2-0 lead on a Brandon Curson double.

Rollins' lone run in the top of the second would not be enough as Lynn scored at least two runs in all but the first and final inning. The Fighting Knights had their biggest scoring run in the fifth with 11 runs.

Rollins went through seven arms on the mound, including a pair of position players. The Tars pitching staff struggled on the bump as they managed to record only six strikeouts but issued 12 walks.

Freshman third baseman Matt Hendricks was the only Tar to post multiple hits as he went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and one run.

Lynn's Paul Stortini registered a game-high six hits with two doubles, five runs and six RBI. Joe Perrotta went six innings to earn the win. He struck out three and allowed four runs on nine hits. TJ Sullivan pitched three innings in relief to pick up a save. He did not allow a hit or run and struck out three.

Rollins and Lynn will wrap up the series on Saturday, March 16 with a doubleheader beginning at noon. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
