Rollins Hosts Barry in Home Finale Wednesday

Glenn Wilkes Jr. enters the final home game of the season with 597 career victories and hopes to send his seniors out in style as Rollins hosts Barry at Warden Arena on Wednesday night. The Tars are .500 in the conference and jockeying for seeding in next week's Sunshine State Conference Tournament. Currently fifth in the standings, Rollins can climb to as high as third with a late season run. Barry visits Winter Park having dropped three of the last four and looking to avoid the SSC Tournament First Round game. ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: The Tars (16-8, 7-7 SSC) have dropped two of the last three, but are coming off an 87-74 win over Saint Leo on Saturday. Sarah Blackburn with 24 points and Ashley Losch with 22 each had career best scoring nights and led Rollins to its highest scoring output of the season. The Tars shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half and were bolstered by a 20-of-27 night at the free throw line. Despite being one of the top defensive teams in the country, the Tars offense has averaged 81.5 points over the last two games.

Ashley Jones has drained at least one 3-pointer in each of the last 19 games and leads the Tars with 10.9 points a night. Her 48 three-pointers this season ranks fourth in the SSC while her 115 career triples is the seventh most in Tars history. Blackburn is putting up 9.9 points a game and is third in the SSC with 6.9 rebounds a night. Tera McDaniel ranks third in the SSC with 3.9 assists a game.

The Tars are averaging a SSC fifth-best 63 points a game while the defense ranks second, allowing 54.5 a game.

BARRY AT A GLANCE: The Buccaneers (13-11, 4-10 SSC) have fallen in their last three conference games and are tied for eighth in the standings. Barry will be making its second-straight trip north, dropping a 58-47 decision at Tampa on Saturday. Tyler Hardy led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds, her third 20-point game of the year.

Colette Eule is the Bucs leading scorer on the season, netting 12.9 a night to rank ninth in the SSC. Hardy is 12th in the conference with 11.6 a night and Jackie Perez is averaging 9.5 a game. The Bucs offense is averaging 60.9 points a game to sit seventh in the SSC while allowing a sixth-best 59.3 on the other end of the court. Over the last five conference games, Barry is putting up 49 a night and allowing 58.

LAST MEETING: JAN. 23, Rollins 55, Barry 43 - Rollins played one of its best defensive games of the season in Miami Shores, beating Barry 55-43 in the first match-up. Ashley Losch had a career night to lead the Tars, matching her then best with 13 points and setting a new standard with eight rebounds. Ashley Jones tallied nine points and five rebounds with Sarah Blackburn racking up eight points and 11 boards. Jackie Perez paced the Bucs with 12 points while Tyler Hardy put up 11 points and six rebounds. Rollins outrebounded Barry 48-30, including a 17-5 advantage on the offensive glass.

THE SERIES: Rollins is 41-16 all-time against Barry. The Bucs last victory in Winter Park was on January 27, 2007.

THE COACHES: Glenn Wilkes Jr. (Stetson '81) is in his 27th year leading the Tars and owns a career record of 597-197. He has the fifth-most victories among active Division II coaches and has racked up the 10th most all-time. Wilkes' winning percentage is the 13th-best in the history of Division II...Bill Sullivan (Georgetown College '73) is in his sixth season leading Barry and is 93-74 on the bench.
