WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 6, 2013) - No. 3
Rollins (10-0-0) defeated No. 21 West Florida (7-3-0) on Sunday
afternoon, 2-1, to remain one of the few unbeaten left in the
country. The win is the Tars' third this year against teams in the
top-25.
Marten
Mueller scored his first goal of the season, also the first of
the match, and Walker
Hume scored his third of the year, the game winner late in the
second half.
Felipe Oliveira scored his fifth of the year for UWF with Andre
Verardi earning the assist.
Keneil
Baker picked up the win, playing 90 minutes and snagging three
saves with one goal allowed. Frederick Bruhn also played the full
90 for the Argonauts and allowed the two scores and recorded three
saves.
Rollins outshot UWF 16-9 while each team took eight corners.
Mueller opened the scoring Sunday in the 14th minute
with a shot from the right side of the box past Bruhn to give the
Tars the 1-0 advantage. Jordan
Cole, who just returned from injury, assisted on the play, his
first of the year.
The score remained 1-0 through the half before the Argos would
draw even in the 54th minute on the Oliveira score.
Rollins was playing a man down at the time of the goal due to Alex
Bisbee needing to be sent off due to blood on his jersey, an
unfortunate break for the Tars.
Rollins would then regain the advantage in the 75th
minute. Brett
Durrance sent a cross in from the right corner to the feet of
Hume who buried into the top of the goal.
Rollins will return to SSC action on Saturday, Oct. 12 at home
at Barker Family Stadium against Barry. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
