ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 1, 2012) - Just
hours after upsetting second-ranked Barry, sixth-ranked Rollins
rolled into St. Petersburg and shutout Eckerd, 9-0 Sunday.
The Tars (13-6) finish the Sunshine State Conference schedule
with a mark of 5-1 and are in second place with the SSC Tournament
looming later in April. The Tritons fall to 0-15 overall and 0-5 in
the conference.
Rollins set the tone right away in doubles play as Constantin Sturdza and Jeff Morris teamed to blank Robby Breece and Ben Levy
8-0 in the No. 3 slot. At No. 1, 10th-ranked Lucas Jovita and Jason Alabaster beat Dylan Radazzo and Stephen Felman
8-2 with Ari Davis and Bernardo Barroso beating Connor Ohlsen and Brian Hill
9-7 in the No. 2 match.
In singles play, second-ranked Jovita defeated Randazzo 6-0, 6-1
in the top match with sixth-ranked Morris blanking Hill 6-0, 6-0 at
No. 2. In the No. 3 flight, Malte Christesen downed Felman 6-0, 6-1 and Davis won
the No. 4 match 6-1, 6-0 over Ohlsen.
Bernardo Barroso took Levy 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 and Andrew Mulick won 6-3, 6-1 over Jesus Silva at No.
6.
Rollins will host its last match of the regular season on
Tuesday, April 3 against the University of New Orleans.
