ABILENE, Texas (March 4, 2012) - Spring break
started on a sour note for the 10th-ranked Rollins
women's tennis team as the Tars were shutout by sixth-ranked
Abilene Christian 9-0 on Sunday.
The loss drops Rollins to 4-4 on the season while ACU improves
to 11-2.
The Tars nearly scored a big upset in the top doubles match as
Lisa Loft and Kayli Ragsdale forced a tiebreaker with
21st-ranked Micah Hermsdorf and Hannah Kelley before
falling 9-8(4).
Callie Whitlock and Elissa DeCampli at No. 2 and Mariana
Salvador and Ashley Rosenberg at No. 3 both lost their doubles
matches by scores of 8-3.
The Tars then fell in each of the six singles matches in
straight sets.
Rollins will look to rebound on Tuesday, March 6 at St. Edward's
University.
