WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 2, 2012) -
Strong singles play again propelled Rollins to victory as the
eighth-ranked Tars beat 47th-ranked Florida Tech 7-2 in
a make-up match from earlier in the week.
The win is Rollins' fourth-straight and improves its record to
4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
The Tars took an early lead with two points in doubles play. Lucas Jovita and Jason Alabaster defeated Barry
Dylewski and Michael Schmidt 8-2 in the No. 1 match while Jeff Morris and Malte Christesen took Daniel Armellino and Beau
Fieldsend 8-6 at No. 3.
In singles, the Tars rolled through the top-three matches.
Top-ranked Jovita beat Lane 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 while
11th-ranked Morris was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Nicolas
Clerc in the No. 2 match.
Malte Christesen downed Armellino 6-0, 6-1, Constantin Sturdza defeated Dylewski 6-3, 6-2 and
Alabaster won 6-1, 7-6 past Pate.
Rollins continues its 12-match home stand in the month of March,
hosting Belmont on Sunday, March 4.
