WINTER PAR, Fla. (February 16, 2012) - Timely hitting combined with a strong pitching performance by Brett Mueller lifted the Rollins Tars baseball team to a 10-4 victory over the Bentley Falcons Thursday evening at Alfond Stadium.

Rollins now improves to 4-3 on the early season, while Bentley remains winless and drops to 0-4.

Freshman Brett Mueller (1-0) earned his first start of the season as he threw six scoreless innings to get the win. Mueller struck out two and allowed five hits, while walking three.

Anthony Figliolia was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk, and one RBI. Sean Reilly registered two hits, along with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Tars scored all 10 runs through four innings, beginning with a five-run second. Rollins tallied half the team hits in the second collecting five, starting with a straight shot up the middle from Reilly. The catcher also scored the Tars' first run after moving to second on a drawn walk from Brian Lattanzi, to third on a bunt single, and finally scoring on a single through the left side. Lattanzi, Boston Langley, Figliolia, and Chris Holloway each scored runs in that frame.

Rollins tacked on another run in the third as Brandon Curson crossed the plate on a Figliolia RBI single. Three more runs scored for Rollins in the fourth, followed by another lone run in the fifth.

Bentley broke the silence in the top of the seventh putting up four runs. Vinnie Eruzione started off the inning with a single but was thrown out at second on the throw by left fielder Chris Holloway. Sean Keady and Kevin Korwek scored the first two runs for the Falcons. Lamarre Rey scored the third run of the inning on a Rollins wild pitch with the final run coming from Mark Lane.

The Tars outhit their opponent 11-10, but committed two errors on the night.

Bentley starting pitcher Blaine McLean was charged with the loss in three innings of work. He allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks.

Rollins continues the four-game series against Bentley on Friday, February 17. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. Fans can catch all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
