WINTER PARK, Fla. (December 8, 2012) - Rollins
opened the game on an 18-0 run and never looked back as the
22nd-ranked Tars beat Warner 81-38 in non-conference action
Saturday.
Rollins now hits its 21-day holiday layoff with a record of 6-2
while Warner falls to 3-3.
Sarah Blackburn led the way with 14 points on
5-of-7 shooting from the field and a 4-for-6 effort at the line.
The junior also set a career high with eight steals. Ashley Jones hit a trio of 3-pointers and added 12
points, all in the second half. Ashley Losch chipped in 11 off the bench.
Brooke Garmon led the Royals with 12 points while Allison Porter
recorded nine points and five rebounds.
Rollins held Warner without a bucket for the first seven
minutes, running out to an 18-0 lead after a Tonya Aaron 3-pointer. The Royals were 0-for-6 from
the field with seven turnovers during the span.
The Tars pushed the advantage to 28-5 after a Blackburn steal
and fast break layup with 7:09 to play in the half.
A Jasmine Cohen free throw put Rollins ahead 37-18 with
three minutes left in the first. The two teams would play to a
stalemate the rest of the frame to give the Tars a 19-point
halftime lead.
With 13:45 to play in the game Losch hit a 3-pointer at the top
of the key and sparked a 20-2 Tars run over the next 12 minutes,
giving Rollins a commanding 71-26 lead. All but two of Rollins' 11
points in the final five minutes came from the free throw line.
Rollins forced 33 Warner turnovers while committing just 11. The
Tars shot 41 percent from the field and 28-of-33 from the free
throw line.
The Tars will next be in action at the Rollins Holiday Classic,
Dec. 29-30 at Warden Arena. Rollins will face Mercyhurst at 5 p.m.
on Dec. 29 followed by a meeting with Indiana (Pa.) at 5 p.m. on
