WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 3, 2012) - On a
rainy evening in Winter Park, the men's soccer team picked up a
much needed SSC win, blanking Nova Southeaster, 3-0.
The rain began to fall just before kickoff at Cahall Sandspur
Field and because of the wet track, both teams entered halftime
locked in a scoreless tie.
With the rain subsiding, the Tars wasted no time in the second
half with freshman Brett Durrance notching his third goal of the season,
burying a well-placed cross from Jordan Cole in the 48th minute.
Rollins added to the deficit five minutes later courtesy of a
goal from sophomore Evan Greenbaum. Greenbaum snuck behind the Sharks
back line, deflecting a Durrance free kick past Sharks keeper
Andrea Giombetti.
Philipp Schad would add another for good measure just
a minute later, his first of the season. Walker Hume set up the play down the ride side to a
streaking Cole who found Schad in the box before the junior slotted
it home.
In goal, Keneil Baker registered five saves in 90 minutes for
his third clean sheet of the season, 17th career.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 6th
when they travel to Barry. Fans can follow along with all the
action live on the Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.
