ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 17, 2012) - 24th
ranked Rollins (9-4-1, 6-1-0) battled back from an early one goal
deficit to defeat the Eckerd Tritons Wednesday evening in St.
Petersburg, 2-1.
The Tritons took the early lead on the sixth goal of the season
by Dana Treat. In the 31st minute, Eckerd's Emily
Johnson sent the throw in from the near sideline in the Tars
defensive third right to the head of Treat, who headed it near post
for the goal.
The Tars would find the equalizer fifteen minutes into the
second period when senior Anita Cox converted her third penalty kick in as many
tries. Sophomore Azure Dorsey earned the penalty when she was taken
down in the box after splitting the Triton defense and found
herself one on one with the Eckerd keeper.
The game winner then came in the 65th minute off the
foot of Taylor Thigpen. The Tars won a corner and quickly
played it in to sophomore Brenna McKee who found Thigpen at the top corner of
the box. Thigpen collected and blasted a shot from 25 yards out
into the right side netting for her second goal of the season.
In the Win, Rollins outshot Eckerd 14-3 and took nine corners
compared to two for the Tritons.

in goal, earning the victory.
