WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 26, 2011) - In a
preseason tune-up for the regular season, the second-ranked Rollins
men's soccer team played Warner University to a 1-1 draw on Friday
at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field.
Matt Bauchle headed a Nick Sowers pass into the back of the net in the
12th minute to give Rollins a 1-0 early edge. The Royals
found the equalizer in the final second of the first half as
Nicolas Carapia lofted a ball into his attacking zone that bounced
through the Tars defense and into the goal just as the horn
sounded.
The second half was played to a stalemate and the exhibition
match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Rollins fired off 21 shots, 12 in the first half, while Warner
put up eight attempts. Starter Keneil Baker played 60 minutes between the posts for
Rollins, recording one save, before giving way to Chris Cummings, who also had a stop.
Warner keeper Hamlet Montoya stopped six Tars shots in the full
90 minutes.
Rollins will be back in action on Monday, August 29 with a
scrimmage against the Central Florida Kraze. Kick off is slated for
7 p.m. The regular season opener is set for Friday, September 2 at
