ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 8, 2011)- The
Rollins softball team added another victory in the win column over
Eckerd, Friday evening, by score of 17-0. The Tars improve to 35-2
overall and hold a conference mark of 12-2, while Eckerd falls
11-30 and 0-13 in conference play.
Christine
Roser and Monica
Meadows led the offensive charge on the evening, combining for
seven of the 13 RBIs in the game. Roser went a perfect 4-for-4 with
four RBIS including a pair of doubles and a solo homerun. The
senior backstop also added a single and was just a triple away from
colleting the cyle.
Meadows also showed off her power, collecting three RBIs on a
2-for-2 performance in the leadoff spot for the Tars. Veronica
Alred also went 2-for-2 and collected a pair of RBIs and
received support from Hope
Bitzer, Amber
Pederson and Jessica
Moreland, each collecting an RBI.
Rollins had eight players tally hits, including five multi-hit
efforts to keep the offense running on all cylinders. The Tars were
slow getting the offense started, only scoring three runs through
the first three innings of play, but turned things up with a pair
of seven run innings in the fourth and fifth inning to close out
the Tritons.
Bitzer collected her 15 victory of the season and remains
undefeated in the circle in her first season with the Tars. Bitzer
collected five strikeouts, while allowing one hit and one walk on
the evening.
Rollins will finish up the series, tomorrow afternoon with a
doubleheader slated for 1 p.m.
