ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (April 15, 2011) -
Rollins battled through a tight doubles competition, but came up
short as the ninth-ranked Tars were shutout by fourth-ranked Barry,
5-0 in the Sunshine State Conference Championship semifinals.
The Tars (17-6) will now meet Florida Southern in the third
place match at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16. Rollins was a 6-3
winner over the Mocs in the regular season.
The top-flight doubles match may go down as one of the best of
the tournament with Rollins' Margaret Junker and Kayli Ragsdale
battling second-ranked Barbi Pocza and Angie Werschel. A close
match throughout, the Tars duo came up on the wrong end of a 9-8
decision.
Lisa Loft and Stefania Tkach fell in the No. 2 match to Alex
Gwizdowski and Laura Boguet 8-4 with Roshni Luthra and Allie Steele
dropping the No. 3 match o Julie Stas and Olivia Matuszak 8-6.
In singles play, Matuszak blanked Tkach 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and
Mona Mansour took Ashley Rosenberg 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
