WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 18, 2011) - Rollins
swept doubles and dropped just one singles decision as the
sixth-ranked Tars downed visiting Puerto Rico Mayaguez 8-1 on
Friday.
The victory improved Rollins to 8-5 on the season.
Jeff
Morris and Arturo Baravalle teamed to down Andres Irizarry and
Hector Irizarry 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles match while Jason
Alabaster and Nick
Rowlands defeated Fernando Herrerro and Juan C. Monserrate 8-3
in the No. 2 match. Sebastian
Hafner and David Yawalker won the No. 3 match over Luis Colon
and Phillip Rivera 8-1.
In the top ranked singles match, fifth-ranked Jeff
Morris defeated Mendez 6-2, 6-1 while 46th-ranked
Baravalle defeated Hector Irizarry 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2.
Hafner took Herrerro 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, Alabaster was a 6-1, 6-2
winner over Colon at No. 5 and Nick Neito won the No. 6 match
against Monserrate 6-3, 6-1.
Rollins will be back into its Sunshine State Conference schedule
on Saturday, March 19 against Eckerd at 11 a.m.
