took a lead after doubles play and rolled through singles as the
10th-ranked Tars served up the 2011 season with a 7-2
win over 28th-ranked Florida Tech on Wednesday.
Rollins (1-0, 1-0 SSC) scored the first two points of the match
as Lisa
Loft and Ashley
Rosenberg teamed to beat Abigail Greif and Stephanie Dohner 8-0
at No. 2 doubles, while Allie
Steele and Stefania
Tkach took Alexis Weinning and Abbey Keister 8-2 at No. 3.
The Tars were stunned at the top doubles spot as
24th-ranked Margaret
Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale fell to Katarina Huba and Monica Price 9-7.
Junker bounced back in singles play to upset
24th-ranked Huba 7-5, 6-7, 12-10 in the top flight.
Tkach beat price 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 and Rosenberg was a 6-1, 6-0
winner over Dohner at No. 4. Newcomer Mariana
Salvador picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Weinning at No. 5 and
Ragsdale won over Keister 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 6 slot.
Rollins will be back in action on Valentine's Day, Monday Feb.
