At A Glance - Rollins takes a step out of
Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday and hosts Palm Beach
Atlantic at Warden Arena. The Tars (13-2) are coming off a
heartbreaking 71-70 loss to Eckerd on Saturday. A back and forth
battle throughout, the Tritons scored a put back with 2.7 seconds
on the clock to shock the then 14th-ranked Tars.
Rollins dropped four spots in the national poll and meets PBA as
Division II's 19th ranked team. The Tars have the
nation's 13th best defense, allowing 52.9 points per
game, while scoring a 29th best 75.3 points a night. The
Tars have been hot from long range and rank seventh in Division II
with 8.7 made 3-pointers a night...Palm Beach Atlantic (2-14) will
be playing its second game in as many nights as the Sailfish fell
to Flagler last night, 60-49. PBA last played a Sunshine State
Conference opponent on Jan. 5 and defeated Lynn 47-45.
The Series - Rollins leads the all-time series
against the Sailfish 10-0. Last season the two teams met in Winter
Park with Rollins winning 88-57.
The Stars - Kristina Mingos leads Rollins with
11.7 points and 5.9 rebounds a game. Amber Heistan chips in 10.5 a
night and has racked up a team-best 12 blocks. Kourtnie Berry and
Jasmine Bradley are each averaging 9.7 points a game...PBA is paced
by Liz Fugate's 10.9 points a game while Selethia Jackson adds 9.2
points and a team best 8.6 rebounds a game.
The Coaches - Rollins legend Glenn Wilkes, Jr.
(Stetson '81) is in his 25th season at the helm of the Tars program
and, with a record of 544-177, is the winningest coach in the
history of the program. Clarisse Garcia (Villanova '07) is in her
first year leading the Sailfish.
The Rankings - After starting the season
unranked, Rollins is currently ranked No. 19 in the USA TODAY/ESPN
Division II Coaches Poll. Palm Beach Atlantic did not receive any
votes.
