KANSAS CITY, Kan. (September 14, 2010) - Continuing their climb up the NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com DII National Poll, the Rollins women's soccer team comes in at No. 6 in the latest rankings. This marks the highest ranking for the Tars in 2010, and is only the second time the program has ever earned a sixth-place nod. The last time Rollins found themselves one rung away from the top five was in the final regular season poll of 2008.

Now in their fifth week of action in 2010, the Tars have found themselves slowly climbing the poll. After a small setback that took them from their preseason position of 13th down to 21st, the Tars bounced back and came in at No. 8 on last week's poll after defeating then second-ranked West Florida 3-1. The Tars had a quiet week last week with one contest, where they earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Northwood (Fla.), which helped them climb the two spots to sixth on this week's poll.

The Tars first cracked into the national spotlight back in 2006, when they received votes on September 26. After earning votes, Rollins saw time in the poll for three consecutive weeks, coming in at 24th, 23rd, and 25th, respectively before dropping out the remainder of the season.

Rollins waited patiently to re-enter the national poll until September 2, 2008, when they received votes yet again. The following week, the Tars jumped back into the top-25, earning a 14th-place ranking, and climbed as high as sixth.

In 2009, the Tars spent their first full season in the rankings, earning a preseason ranking of tenth. Rollins remained in the top-12 all season, and climbed as high as eighth throughout their 2009 campaign.

Rollins takes their highest ranking this season and squares up for their first Sunshine State Conference showdown of the season as they host 15th-ranked Florida Southern. Kickoff against the Mocs is set for 7:00 p.m. at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field. Fans will be able to catch all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
