WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 24, 2010)- The Rollins
softball team took another step into claiming their first outright
conference championship, Saturday evening, defeting Barry 11-2 in
six innings. With the victory, Rollins improves to 39-4, 18-1 and
Barry falls to 31-21,13-9 in conference.
The Tars scored early and often and took adavantage of mistakes
made by the Bucs defense. Seven of the 11 runs were unearned and
Barry committed four errors on the evening.
Offensively Christine Roser was the hero
for the Tars at the plate. Roser broke the career home run record
mark by sending a pitch over the left center field wall for her
32nd homerun of her career. ROser also collected two RBI on the
evening. Brittney
Pumpelly also provided spark to the offense as she collected
two RBI with Roser.
Kirsten
Frame continues to tear through conference batting lineups and
collected her 27th victory of the season. The freshmen pitched six
innings and allowed seven hits, while surrendering two earned
runs.
Rollins will look to complete the series sweep of the Bucs, which
would allow Rollins to claim its first outright conference
championship in program history.
Game times have been changed to 11 a.m due to the threat of
inclement weather.
