BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 1, 2010)-

The Rollins softball team collected another valuable conference victory against the Lynn University Fighting Knights, Thursday afternoon, by a score of 5-0. With the victory Rollins improves to 27-4 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, Lynn falls to 17-20 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

The Tars struck on the scoreboard first in the third inning as Amber Pederson reached base on a walk by Lynn's pitcher Callie Darlin. Christine Roser was due up next and grounded out, but that would allow Pederson to move to second on the play. The dynamic hitting Krista Rodden ripped an RBI single through the middle that drove in Amber Pederson.

That would be the only run the Tars would need to score in order to capture the victory. Pederson now leads the conference with 39 runs scored followed by her teammate Roser with 38.

Freshmen pitcher Kirsten Frame continued to show her dominance in the circle as she held the top two hitters in the conference in Katrina Lavadan and Brittany Gross to a quiet game. The two combined to go 2-for-6. With the victory Frame improves to 19-2 on the season and also owns 19 complete games in her first season with the Tars.

The Fighting Knights hung tough all day long as freshmen pitcher, Darlin limited the Tars scoring chances. Darlin falls to 5-12 on the season with the loss today.

The Tars would post four more runs to secure the victory and put it out of reach. Rodden drove in two runs, while Meredith Foster and Lauren Caldwell each collected an RBI.

Rollins will look to complete the series with doubleheader action, Friday, Apr. 2 against the Lynn Fighting Knights at 1 p.m. at the McCusker Sports Complex.
