LAKELAND, Fla. (April 15, 2010)
- The ninth-ranked Rollins women's tennis team blanked
21st-ranked Florida Tech 5-0 on Thursday in the first round of the
Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
The fourth seeded Tars (16-9) advance to play top seed Barry at
11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Beerman Tennis Facility in
Lakeland.
In double play, 18th-ranked Margaret Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale took Natalia Ramos and Abigail Greif 8-4 in the top
flight match. Roshni Luthra and Lisa Loft took
Katarina Huba and Abbey Keister 8-4 at No. 2 and Holly
Fleming and Stefania Tkach teamed to
down Andrea Madrigal and Monica Price 8-2 at No. 3.
The Tars then picked up two quick wins in singles to post the
shutout. Junker was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Greif at No. 4 and
Ragsdale took Stephanie Dohner at No. 6 by the same 6-0, 6-1
score.
Rollins fell to Barry 8-1 in their earlier match-up with Fleming
and Tkach teaming to win the No. 3 double match.
