WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 10, 2010) -
A close win in top flight doubles proved to be the only tight
match as the eighth-ranked Rollins men's tennis team shutout
43rd-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic 9-0 on Saturday.
Rollins ends the regular season with a record of 15-8 while the
Sailfish fall to 8-8 on the year.
Nick Rowlands and Chris Herbert battled
Krasmir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos to a 9-7 victory in the top
doubles spot. The Tars completed the sweep as Jeff
Morris and Arturo
Baravalle took Tyler Dealy and Frankie Moulton 8-2 in the No. 2
position and Girts
Dzelde and Constantin
Sturdza won 8-1 over Alex Minicozzi and Nick Hines at No.
3.
The top singles match was between a pair of ranked players with the
Tars eighth-ranked Morris cruising past 28th-ranked Atanasov 6-3,
6-1. The match improved Morris' record against ranked players to
8-2 on the season and his overall singles record to a team-best
19-4.
Baravalle moved to the No. 2 spot and won 6-2, 6-3 over Minicozzi
while Dzelde took Bolanos 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3. Sturdza was a 6-4, 6-2
winner over Dealy at No. 4, Herbert defeated Moulton 6-1, 6-4 and
Mulick took Hines 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
