WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 23, 2010) - Jeff
Morris
knocked off a nationally ranked player for the seventh time this
season, but the 10th-ranked Tars came up short, falling to
sixth-ranked Ouachita Baptists 7-2 on Tuesday.
Morris and Neil Clausen got Rollins
(10-7) started on the right foot with the duo teaming to defeat
Jean Charles Daime and Pierre Tafelski 8-2 in the top flight
doubles match.
OBU grabbed the early 2-1 advantage, however as Pablo
Seijo and Nick Rowlands fell 8-6 to
Till Heilshorn and Tobia Kuhlmann in the No. 2 match and Arturo Baravalle and
Girts
Dzelde lost 9-7 to Daniel Moser and Jan Plewinski in the No. 3
slot.
Morris matched up with 13th-ranked Plewinsky in the top flight
singles match and cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Of his 15 singles
wins, seven have come against nationally ranked players, including
five in the top-20.
Morris' point would be all the Tars would get the rest of the
match, however. The Tigers took the two, three and four matches in
straight sets to secure the victory. Dzelde took Kuhlmann to three
sets before falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 and Chris
Herbert took the first set off Moser before dropping a 4-6,
6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 6.
Rollins hits the road on Wednesday, Mar. 24, traveling to Saint Leo
for a 3 p.m. match.
